Ambient and downtempo labels accepting demos
The catalog carries 119 ambient and downtempo labels, 18 of them with a written history. Ambient runs on a different clock from the club genres, and it changes what a demo is: 12k has been Taylor Deupree's since 1997 and is as recognisable for its sleeve design as for its music, Bedroom Community works out of Valgeir Sigurdsson's own Reykjavik studio with a roster kept small and long-term by design, and A Strangely Isolated Place spent years as a blog before it ever pressed a record. Labels like that tend to take on a body of work rather than a track, so one unmastered file with no context is the wrong shape of send. Which of them is reading right now is not printed here, because it changes without notice.
What this page is, and what it is not
It is a scene page. Several of the names here are imprints sitting inside larger independents on a deliberately narrow remit, and the 18 paragraphs are where that shows up: 130701 is FatCat's modern-composition line, 7K! is !K7's, and ANS Recordings is Anthony Naples's own album imprint run as a division of Incienso. Writing to the group is not the same as writing to the imprint, and the other 101 names here are listed plainly until the research reaches them too.
It is not a list of open inboxes. Ambient runs on a longer clock than the club genres, and a door can be shut for years without anything visible changing: 130701 went quiet for roughly three years before relaunching in 2015. Nothing on this page tracks who is reading, because that is not a fact that holds still long enough to print.

How to read this list
- Alphabetical, not ranked. No scoring and no top ten. These labels tend to take on a body of work rather than a track, so the useful question is which catalogue yours belongs in, not which name near the top you recognise.
- The line under each name is the catalog's own genre tagging, and it is worth reading twice here: 13 of the 18 written-up labels name a sub-genre, and several sit half in modern classical or library and sync music, which is a different business to pitch.
- Labels and outlets are kept apart, and the name is not the badge. The section further down holds 9 radio stations among its 14 entries, while Shanti Moscow Radio is filed above as a label, because the "Radio" in its name is a mix series rather than a station.
- Some labels charge to consider a demo, which weighs differently when what you are sending is an album's worth of work rather than one track. They are flagged inside the app, on the free tier. This page does not say which, and it names no fees.
18 ambient and downtempo labels, with their history
100% Electronica
100% Electronica was founded in 2015 in Brooklyn, New York by George Clanton and Lindsey French, who records as Neggy Gemmy (formerly Negative Gemini), and it is now run out of Los Angeles. It grew out of the vaporwave and internet-music scene and became the most visible independent label in that world, releasing Clanton's own albums alongside ESPRIT, Windows 96, death's dynamic shroud, Equip, FM Skyline and Satin Sheets. The label is unusually direct-to-fan: it sells almost everything through its own store, runs an artist fan club, and hosts a near-weekly livestream called THE BIG STREAM. It also stages its own festival-style events rather than relying on traditional label promotion. The label celebrated its tenth anniversary in 2025 and continues to press vinyl and cassette for its roster.
12k
12k was founded in 1997 by the artist and mastering engineer Taylor Deupree and is based in New York. Its own description is that it 'has decisively defined and developed its own concept of minimalism in the realms of experimental and ambient music since 1997', combining ambient and acoustic experimentation with arranged digital textures and small associative noises. It became one of the reference points for microsound and lowercase, and its spare, uniform sleeve design is as recognisable as the music. The roster has run from Ryuichi Sakamoto and Christopher Willits to Marcus Fischer, Federico Durand, Stephen Vitiello and Deupree himself. Deupree also runs 12k Mastering, and the label has kept a steady release pace into 2026.
130701
130701 is the modern-composition imprint of FatCat Records, the Brighton independent, and is named for the date it began, 13 July 2001. It was set up as an outlet for more orchestrated, instrumental material that did not sit with FatCat's rock and electronic output, and it became one of the founding outlets of what got called post-classical: early releases came from Sylvain Chauveau, Set Fire To Flames, Max Richter (including his debut Memoryhouse), Johann Johannsson, Hauschka and Dustin O'Halloran. The imprint went quiet for roughly three years and was relaunched in 2015 around its fifteenth anniversary with albums by Dmitry Evgrafov and Emilie Levienaise-Farrouch. Since then it has built a second generation including Shida Shahabi, Clarice Jensen, Keeley Forsyth, Ava Rasti, Emil Friis and Dobrawa Czocher.
1631 Recordings
1631 Recordings was founded in Sweden in the summer of 2015 by David Wenngren, who records as Library Tapes, and Mattias Nilsson, who ran the Swedish label Kning Disk. It was built digital-first, with distribution through Decca/Universal, and a publishing arm, 1631 Publishing, followed in 2016. The catalogue is contemporary classical and ambient at high volume: solo piano, strings and quiet electronics, with artists including Dmitry Evgrafov, Danny Mulhern, Hoshiko Yamane, Alex Kozobolis, Garreth Broke and Wilson Trouve, plus the recurring Piano Cloud compilations. Several of its early signings came from artists already known to the founders or from demos originally sent to Kning Disk. It added a sister label, Sea Ash Records, around the end of 2023, and it remains one of the most prolific outlets in the neoclassical space.
7K!
7K! is the modern-classical and ambient imprint of !K7 Music, the Berlin independent founded by Horst Weidenmuller and best known for the DJ-Kicks mix series. !K7 launched 7K! in 2016 as what it called a neo-classical hub, both a label of its own and a services offering for other labels in that world, with Weidenmuller framing the aim as mirroring !K7's model in new classical, ambient and experimental music. It sits alongside !K7 Records, Strut and Soul Bank inside the group, which runs offices in Berlin, New York and London. The label describes itself now as a 'Home for exploratory sounds and forms, fluid in expression and rooted in composition', and the catalogue bears that out: solo piano and electronics from Niklas Paschburg and Hior Chronik, ensemble work from Echo Collective and Cello Octet Amsterdam, and more abstract recent records from Martyna Basta and Uele Lamore.
A Strangely Isolated Place (ASIP)
A Strangely Isolated Place began in 2008 as an ambient and electronica blog run by Ryan Griffin, and grew into a record label that now works mostly in vinyl. Its own about page describes it as having evolved as a music blog, community, and record label, and calls the catalogue 'ambient adjacent', exploring the genre's edges and its overlap with electronica. Alongside the label it runs 9128.live, a 24 hour curated ambient and electronic stream launched in August 2019, plus the long-running isolatedmix guest mix series and an annual label compilation. It operates from Los Angeles and is one of the more consistently active independent ambient labels.
All Possible Worlds
All Possible Worlds is the imprint the anonymous German producer Traumprinz (previously Prince Of Denmark) launched in April 2018, at the same time he announced his departure from Giegling and retired the Prince Of Denmark alias. It opened with two simultaneous album-length releases presented through a deliberately crude MS-DOS-styled web front. In practice it is a self-release vehicle rather than a roster label: essentially every catalogue entry is another one of the same artist's aliases, and the whole project is built around withholding identity. After a long quiet stretch it returned with the Irini box set 'Lost In Dreams' in late 2025 and the Traumprinz album 'life' in May 2026.
ANS Recordings
ANS Recordings is the personal album imprint of New York producer Anthony Naples, run as a division of Incienso, the label he co-founded in 2017 with Jenny Slattery. It launched in 2018 with the OTT / ZTL 12 inch and has since carried every one of his solo full-lengths: Fog FM in 2019, Chameleon in 2021, Orbs in 2023, Scanners in 2025 and In Studio Magic in December 2025. The sound is the reason the book files it under house, techno and downtempo at once: Resident Advisor characterises the catalogue as home listening techno, smoky house and techno, and a guitar-heavy downtempo record, and the recent albums sit in a dub house register. Its catalogue numbers run ANS1000 through ANS8000, one per album. Incienso, the parent, is the outward-facing label with an actual roster (DJ Python, Huerco S., Call Super, James K, Loidis, Beta Librae); ANS is the wing reserved for Naples himself.
Ant-Zen
Ant-Zen, full name 'ant-zen audio & visual arts', is a German independent label founded in 1993 in Lappersdorf, Bavaria, by Stefan Alt, who records as S.Alt and designed most of the label's artwork and packaging himself. The name is contracted from 'Anti Zensur', meaning anti censorship. It began as a cassette label and moved through vinyl and CD to become the central imprint of the German rhythmic noise and post-industrial scene, self-describing as industrial music, chilling ambient, technoid rhythms and power electronics. Its early catalogue leaned toward harsh noise; the later output turned more technoid while staying experimental. It also distributed other labels and ran a mailorder, and in early 2019 it closed the warehouse and shop and shifted to digital-first releasing through Bandcamp. It has over 1,500 catalogued releases and is still putting out records at pace in 2026.
Aterral
Aterral is a Berlin label and mix series started in 2020 by Carlo, a DJ and producer originally from Malaga in Andalucia who moved north and launched the imprint during the pandemic. He set it up partly as an outlet for his own records and partly to push friends and under-exposed producers, opening with releases from Black Loops, Lis Sarroca and himself. The sound is warm, unhurried deep house with a Mediterranean tint, running into two-step, minimal and richly textured grooves, and Carlo has described the aim as showing his own taste in house music and releasing records he could not easily find elsewhere. Around the label sits an extensive mix series, now past 140 episodes, plus a radio strand, sample packs and merchandise. It hit its 40th release and fifth anniversary in January 2026 with the compilation VA - V.
Beats Of No Nation
Beats Of No Nation (BONN) started in 2015 as a weekly radio show on Brisbane's community station 4ZZZ, founded by Jad & The and Dom Bird and focused on local and emerging DJs and producers alongside international guests. Luen Free joined in 2018 to make it a trio, and Discogs credits curation to Dom Bird, Jad Lee and Sean Bate. It grew from a show into a record label, releasing its immediate Brisbane circle first and then underground music from further afield, with its slogan being that it curates, promotes and releases music, independently together. Since 2025 it has had a monthly residency on Berlin's Refuge Worldwide, which it calls its spiritual home. Releases carry a community streak: one EP directed profits to Pay The Rent, and another was a bushfire fundraiser.
Bedroom Community
Bedroom Community is an Icelandic label and artist collective based in Reykjavik, founded in 2006 by producer and composer Valgeir Sigurdsson with American composer Nico Muhly and Australian-Icelandic producer Ben Frost. It is built around Sigurdsson's Greenhouse Studios, which functions as the label's home and shared workroom rather than a rented facility, and its catalogue sits where modern classical, folk song and electronic processing overlap. Releases carry HVALUR catalogue numbers and the roster has stayed small and long-term by design, including Sam Amidon, Daniel Bjarnason, Lyra Pramuk, Manchester Collective and Nadia Sirota. It has been described by Drowned in Sound as the best record label in Iceland.
Bella Union
Bella Union is a British independent label founded in 1997 by Simon Raymonde and Robin Guthrie of Cocteau Twins, initially so the band could release its own and collaborative work, and later run with their former manager Fiona Glyn-Jones. Guthrie stepped away and the label has been run by Raymonde since, moving its base from London to Brighton, where it also operates the Bella Union Vinyl Shop. Its reputation was built on melodic, atmospheric guitar and folk music: Dirty Three and The Czars early on, then Fleet Foxes, Beach House, Midlake, John Grant, Father John Misty and The Flaming Lips. Music Week named it Independent Record Label of the Year in 2010, 2012, 2014 and 2016. It has signed a global label solutions deal with Believe covering new releases and select catalogue.
!K7 Records
Horst Weidenmueller founded !K7 in Berlin in 1985 at the age of 21, naming it after the office address Kaiserdamm 7. It began as a music video production company (early work with Nick Cave, Mudhoney and Lydia Lunch) before moving into music with the early-1990s X-Mix video mix series featuring Laurent Garnier and Richie Hawtin, which MTV picked up. The DJ-Kicks mix series launched in 1995 with C.J. Bolland and became the label's signature franchise, running through Kruder & Dorfmeister, Carl Craig, Peggy Gou, Moodymann, Eris Drew and Sofia Kourtesis. Artist albums followed from 1996, and the company grew into the K7 Label Group, an umbrella over !K7 Records, 7K! (neoclassical), Strut (funk, soul and global), Soul Bank and Eternal Source Of Light, with offices in Berlin, New York and London.
Majestic Casual
German curation channel joined 28 April 2012, one of the original tastemaker channels of the 2010s: 'Music discoveries for curious minds. We don't care about trends, genres, stats or names.' 4.24M subscribers and 2.29bn views (the largest audience of any channel researched), but the YouTube channel has not uploaded since mid-2024 while its submission form remains open and accepting.
NAFF Recordings
NAFF is a Montréal label founded in 2018 and run by Francis Latreille and Adam Feingold, better known as the producers Priori and Ex-Terrestrial; their own SoundCloud bio puts it simply as 'Piloted by: @ex-terrestrial & @priori-ties'. Its info page describes it as 'a record label and online platform for emerging voices in electronic music', with releases ranging 'from techno to IDM, trance to experimental rap, and beyond', and both labels work with sculptors, painters and graphic designers on the physical editions. In 2020 the pair added the sister imprint GARMO, and the operation has since grown well past a bedroom label: a catalogue past NAFF033, vinyl under exclusive license, a staffed roster, the naffcast mix series and the un:send festival. Priori has become one of the more critically visible names in Canadian electronic music, pulling the label's profile up with him.
Shanti Moscow Radio
It is a record label, not a broadcaster: the 'Radio' in the name refers to its mix and podcast series, not to a station. Discogs describes it as an 'Organic House record label and the division of life-asserting music,' originally from Moscow, later based in London (2022-2024) and now resident in Düsseldorf, Germany; Resident Advisor dates the label to 2015. It was founded and is run by the Russian duo Gorje Hewek & Izhevski, who appear as the most frequent artists across the catalogue. The important turn for the book: it has RENAMED and RELOCATED. It now trades as SHANTI MANSION. Bandcamp, Instagram, Facebook and SoundCloud all sit on the shantimansion handle, Beatport now displays the label as 'Shanti Radio', and Discogs still files it under the legacy name while pointing every URL at shantimansion.
Sol Selectas
Founded in New York in 2006 by the DJ and producer Sabo, Sol Selectas built the organic and tribal house lane, fusing folkloric instrumentation with deep house and downtempo, and runs the long-running Summer Sol compilation series.

Not labels: 14 ambient and downtempo radio shows, blogs and channels
These do not sign records. They play them, write about them or premiere them, which is a different pitch with a different message, and sending one an imprint-style demo email is a wasted send. They are here because a show or a blog is often the more realistic first yes, and the app marks every one of them as an outlet rather than a label for the same reason.
Cashmere Radio
Cashmere Radio is 'a not-for-profit community experimental radio station' in Berlin, now based in Wedding after six years in Lichtenberg. It broadcasts continuously online and on DAB+ on Fridays and Saturdays via the 24/3 Radio Netzwerk, and explores radio as a medium through both conventional and experimental formats. It won the Tag der Clubkultur Award in 2024 and 2025, took the 2020 Berlin Art Week prize for Best Project Space, and has received cultural funding for its 'Radio as Social Sculpture' initiative.
dublabRadio
dublab is a Los Angeles non-profit, community-supported internet radio station and creative collective founded in 1999 by Jonathan Buck, Mark McNeill and fellow KSCR Radio students at USC, incorporated under the nonprofit Future Roots, Inc. Its About page says it has broadcast since the 'dot-com era' with a mission of 'forward-thinking, freeform radio,' now showcasing over 180 radio shows a month and simulcasting on affiliate stations in Germany, Japan, Spain and Brazil. It also produces art exhibits, films, television and community education projects.
HÖR BerlinPremiere channel
HÖR describes itself as 'an independent online music platform, collective and cultural community space based in Berlin-Kreuzberg founded in 2019,' broadcasting 'DJ sets and Live acts 6 days a week' from its distinctive tiled room. It maintains a large searchable library organised by style and artist across house, techno, trance, drum & bass and ambient, plus a membership tier giving access to track IDs, and runs a contest strand called Maximum Heat.
Inverted AudioMagazine
London-based underground electronic music platform running reviews, features, interviews, mixes and a heavy premiere series. Registered as Inverted Audio Ltd in London SE4, describing 'an extensive network across the UK, Europe and beyond'. Well regarded in the leftfield/house/techno critical press; founding date could not be established from the site.
Kiosk Radio
Kiosk Radio launched in 2017 and broadcasts 24/7 from a wooden kiosk in the Parc Royal in central Brussels, supported by the City of Brussels and the Brussels-Capital Region. Its About page calls it 'a place where music drifts between genres without boundaries or rules,' mixing live DJ sets, pre-recorded shows and artist conversations across jazz, ambient, hip hop, rock and electronic music. It also functions as a physical bar and gathering space and runs events including the annual Woodblocks festival, with partnerships including KANAL - Centre Pompidou and Horst Festival.
LYL Radio
LYL is an independent French web radio that has operated in Lyon since 2015 from Les Ateliers SUMO, opening a Paris studio in November 2016, Brussels in 2020 and Marseille in 2021. Its About page describes a cultural project that 'has elected music as its main ethic' and gathers 'activists, record store owners, label founders, djs, musicians, specialists, geeks, weirdos and amateurs.' As of September 2026 it consolidated back to a single studio in Lyon, streaming fresh shows weekly every Thursday 9am to midnight Paris time, with archives filling the rest of the schedule.
Netil Radio
Netil Radio is a London community station broadcasting from a converted shipping container on the roof of Netil Market in Hackney, known as a hub for East London's underground and DIY music scene. It maintains an active Mixcloud archive of shows.
Noods Radio
Noods Radio was founded in 2015 out of Sunday morning sessions and broadcasts worldwide from Mickey Zoggs Cafe/Bar on Cheltenham Road, Bristol. Its info page calls the station 'home to an array of misfits, collectors and selectors from around the globe' under the line 'No playlists, no ads, just the people.' It is listener-supported through donations and a 'Luvers' membership scheme.
NTS Radio
NTS is a London-founded online radio and music-discovery platform that launched in 2011 and runs two live channels 24/7, describing itself as 'a music discovery platform, built by music lovers for music lovers.' Its own About page says programming comes from artists and DJs 'from over 80 countries,' spanning 'hip-hop to highlife and jungle to j-pop,' and that it runs without on-air advertising and prioritises 'human curation over algorithmic recommendations.' It is the single most-cited tastemaker station in the underground electronic world and maintains a vast public archive.
Refuge WorldwideRadio
Refuge Worldwide is a Berlin community radio station and cultural space that began in 2015 as a grassroots fundraising initiative, with the radio station itself launching in January 2021. Since October 2025 it has operated from Niemetzstrasse 1 in Berlin-Neukölln, combining a 24/7 broadcast with an office, music production studio, café and event space. It runs free workshops and training in media, creative fields and mental health, and works 'in solidarity with nonprofits and community organizations across Berlin.'
Resident AdvisorMagazine
Founded in 2001, RA is the most influential editorial and listings platform in electronic music, describing itself as 'A platform to discover electronic music, artists and events'. It publishes news, features, reviews, films and podcasts with a global team of writers. A review or feature here carries more weight than anything else in this category, and is correspondingly the hardest to get.
StereofoxBlog
'Digital music discovery magazine, playlist curator, and record label established in 2013' per its own About panel. Runs stereofox.com plus a label. 15.6K YouTube subscribers over 893 videos, with the larger reach on the blog and Spotify/Apple curator profiles (Spotify 132,900 followers per their own Groover profile).
Test PressingBlog
Founded October 2008 by Paul Byrne, a.k.a. Apiento, Test Pressing sits at the intersection of music, design and art, and is widely treated as the go-to destination for the Balearic and Balearic-disco scene. It began around the Balearic sounds of mid-to-late-80s Ibiza and broadened into reviews, news, interviews, mixes and archive material. Contributors include Piers Harrison, Martyn Pepperell and Bruce Tantum; Byrne also A&Rs International Feel and has released on Leng, Claremont 56 and World Unknown.
Threads Radio
Threads Radio is an online station launched around 2019, associated with the Tottenham venue The Cause in London and with a Berlin arm, focused on experimental sound, underground music and socially and politically engaged talk content. Its site publishes interviews, reviews and mixes covering events like Rewire Festival and the London Contemporary Music Festival. The Tottenham/The Cause and dual London-Berlin framing comes from press coverage (via search snippet, unverified) rather than the station's own pages.
Where the routes and the tracking live
Saltado Sessions is a desktop app for producers. It scans every project on your drives into one searchable library, and it carries this whole catalog, more than 1,200 labels and outlets, as a directory you can filter by genre next to the track you are about to send.
The directory is free. Searchable, genre-tagged, the histories, the outlets kept visibly apart from the labels, and the pay-to-play warnings, with no cap and no trial clock. A warning is worth nothing to the person who has already paid, which is why that flag is not the paid part.
Known demo routes are part of Pro, a $44 one-time purchase that is never a subscription, together with submission tracking Pro: you pick a label and hit send once, the app opens that label's route and logs the send in the same click, and the history then lives on the track itself with dates, replies, and an amber flag when a send has sat unanswered for 30 days. A route you dig up yourself is yours on any tier, and so is every note you write about a label.
It runs on your machine and only your machine. There is no account, nothing about your library leaves the computer, and the catalog is a local database that you own.
